Ben Rousseau and I have complete the ‘legacy of the river at the Ice Hotel in Arctic Sweden, It was a grueling few days working in conditions of down to -32C.  We are really happy with the result and have garnered some amazing support from the press.  We are now working hard to further develop our furniture range to be launched in the near future.  Also Extreme-Design: All conditions is now being edited.  Visit extreme-design.net

The Ice suite will be made from ice and snow and over 150m of organic phosphor wire, that will give the room its futuristic edge. We will be filming a pilot show for a forthcoming television series also. Currently we are in the final planning stages and getting ready for 3 weeks at -20 degrees C. It looks set to be an amazing build process. See extreme-design

The structure is now being CNC’d and we will be assembling part of it next week. The design will now incorporate luggage tags! which are a device to navigate through the installation and explore the cities that are referenced. A comparative analysis will show the disparities in ecological foot prints between cities, and exemplar projects display what steps are being made to head towards more sustainable and livable cities…

I am in Melbourne for a time, and we i-n-d-j will be at the State of Design in July with one of the festivals lead projects.  We are in development at the moment but it looks set to be an exciting project.  Heres a little intro, full details to come on www.i-n-d-j.com soon.

Australia has a water shortage problem, particluarly in the garden state where its populous is responsible for using 2054 litres per person per day, directly and indirectly.  So to feed the garden state 45% of that water go’s to food production…  The states sprawling urbanism is also fairly greedy with the ecological of each person pushing 45,000m2 per annum.  Victoria together with Melbourne water are bucking thrend and trying to change a mind set; that water aint infinate in fact quite the opposite, so behavioral change is called for.  The Livable cities exhibition will strive to make its visitors aware of the water and area needed to support them… by quanitfying use we can understand the affects our habits  has on the resources around us.  Formally  i-n-d-j’s installation will consist of a figurative cloud and landscape, a manmade cloud of 3500 recycled water bottles and landscape of re-appropriated milk crates.  The volume of bottles equates to 2054 litres whilst the earth is just 1/4500 of our ecological footprint at 10m2.  The ground whilst providing seating will incorporate screens displaying exemplar projects from across the globe which deal tackle water and food issues in cites.  titles DYSTOPIAN SCENARIOS AND VISIONARY SOLUTIONS cautionary tales entwined with palpable futures.  It opens to the public on the 16th July this year,  the venue is as yet undecided.  will keep you posted!
